Ich habe endlich eine Gastfamilie für meinen Aufenthalt in Brisbane gefunden :)
Ich werde ab Ende Januar in Samford Valley etwas außerhalb von Brisbane, aber nur 12 Kilometer von der Schule, an der ich als Fremdsprachenassistentin arbeiten werde, wohnen. Die Familie besteht aus den Eltern Cassie und Paul und den Kindern Ruby (13), Felix (10), Harriet (8) und Oscar (3) sowie einem Hund und zwei Wellensittichen. Gestern hatten wir nach einigen Emails unser erstes Gespräch via Skype und ich habe sofort gemerkt, dass die Familie einfach klasse ist und ich wirklich gerne bei ihnen wohnen würde und anscheinend hatten sie das gleiche Gefühl.
Ruby wird ab Januar ihre High School Karriere an meiner zukünftigen Arbeitsstelle beginnen und dort auch am German Immersion Programme teilnehmen, wodurch sie viel Zeit mit der deutschen Sprache verbringen wird. Die Familie, die bisher bis auf Felix und Ruby nicht Deutsch spricht dachte, dass es gut wäre, Ruby ein wenig zu unterstützen, indem sie mich als Muttersprachler bei sich aufnehmen und ich freu mich jetzt schon ungemein, Zeit mit der Familie zu verbringen.
Es wird keinesfalls leicht, meine Familie hier in Canberra zu verlassen, aber jetzt weiß ich wenigstens, dass ich nach meiner Zeit hier weiterhin gut untergebracht sein werde :)

Good news! I've finally found a host family for my stay in Brisbane!
Starting in late January I'll be living in Samford Valley which is pretty much the first suburb outside of Brisbane but onlu 12km from the high school where I'll be working as a German Language Assistant for almost half a year. The family consists of the parents Cassie and Paul and their four children Ruby (13), Felix (10), Harriet (8) and Oscar (3) as well as one dog and two budgies. Yesterday the family and I had our first skype call following several emails and I knew straight away that I'd love to stay with them and that the family is simply awesome. Luckily they seemed to feel the same way and we soon decided that it'd be great to have me stay at their house.
Ruby will start high school at the school where I'll be working this January and also join the German Immersion Programme there which means that she'll have to do pretty much all of her school work in German. As only Ruby and Felix speak German so far, Cassie thought it might be good to have me around to help Ruby with her workload and I really can't wait to spend time with her and the rest of the family!
I know that it's gonna be really hard to leave my host family in Canberra but at least I know that I'll be staying with another nice family after my time here and I'm really looking forward to that :)
